LJ

Hey, Thanks for comming to my page. I am a roofer that loves to build Cigarbox guitars.
I usually stick to the 3 stringers. I find that the non players can get a good blues sound outta them . And they can do it without hours of lessons. (More like 5 minutes)I have built other things but really enjoy the 3 string CBG.
All my CBG's come the way they come. Meaning I build them the way I like them. My favorite feature is my high gloss, hand brushed, hand sanded, multi coated poly necks.
I tend to like Les Pauls and vintage guitars. So the high gloss necks are important to me.
I also Like lightwieght aluminum hardware. I have experimented with different items but I like the transfer I get from aluminum.
I will use whatever wood is available, but tend to use spanish cedar. I find that to be my overall favorite for tone and looks.
I have a very modest website www.littlejohnscigarboxguitars.com. Where you can view available guitars for sale. And when I get good enough with the site building I will learn to put helpful videos. Pictures of past builds. And whatever else I think would be nice. I dont sell my CBG's to get rich. However I aint selling them for pocket change anymore either. I would love to build them for a living, but find the market a lil tough with people selling them for the prices that they do. So I sell mine as fair as I can. Make enough to pick up a new tool here and there, get parts for more builds And keep building because I love it. Not because I have too. Maybe one day Ill find that golden opportunity to build for a living and still love it. But untill then Ill be a roofer that builds when I can.
One thing for certain. My builds play good and sound good. I am a musician and its important to me to make sure they are worthy to play and listen too. If I wouldnt like it for myself. I wouldnt sell it. I dont mind if you wanna hang them up as art on your wall. Thats fine with me. You can still play it if needed.
I have had ladies ask me to build Cigarbox Purses. I love building but do not have a love for building things that dont interest me. And Im not very interested in purses. So I dont build them.
I have built a cookie tin I was really proud of,built a stand up gas tank bass Im not as proud of. (No Wood Challenge) So it doesnt always have to be a cigar box. It just has to spark my interest.
This is a really nice site Ted has put together. And I find it to be filled with some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. (thanks Ted) Im proud to be a member of this clubhouse. And will always try to be of help when I can.

Hi Lj

Just wanted to get you a note telling you that I have sold several guitars to "non players" or aspiring musicians and always refer them to your CBG for Dummies vids. All have learned a lot, as I have, and it's a great way for anyone to get started. Great meeting you at LowBowFest. Next year, I'll be playing right along with you, teach. Thanks for all your help.

Thanks LJ, I didn't think about it as making the sound come out at different angles. Now I'll have to try it.

hey man thanks for the vid comment on lodi ll jj i always liked that song.that guitar plays really good and out of the reviews i could find on it most said that folks that had one of these and several others had a hard time parting with one like this but let others go that they had before they let this particular one kind go. now i know why.

thankyou so much Randy for watching and listening, your posting your lovely comments:-) when I know somebody is smiling in a listen, it makes my day.
I do the music for fun and sharing,...blessed to have the ability to reach folks around the world, without leaving my humble abode LOL........whilst I'm here, I must check out some of your vids, I see great instruments too.....someday, I hope a lil spare time comes my way....I might build one yet! ...I am very blessed to play ones that have come my way by means of out and out generosity. Daddy Mojo was an ebay purchase, but i did not play it much, till I stuck a screwdriver under the strings and started playing lap slide......(tall grass blues) speaking of which.. I'm.still out battling those weeds! hehehe
thanks again--:-) Laurie
