My CBG just doesnt put out a lot of noise without amplification. Normally this doesnt bother me, the house is normally quiet so I can hear just fine. Or I hook it up to an amp and the whole neighborhood can hear me. But the other day I was in a public place with just a bit of ambient noise and while trying to show off for friends I realized I could barely hear what I was trying to play.
But carrying an amp around can be a PIA, even one of those belt jobbers. Then I was at a local shop that builds CBGs and they had a couple of small amps built into cigar boxes. Just amps, not a combination, but I took a look and decided there was not reason why I could not combine a CBG and amp into the same box.
I found a little 2.5 watt amp on ebay. All prewired, no solder. I figured 2.5 was loud enough. Its not like I am going to gig with the thing. I also plan to put in one of CBGitty's little preamps. I put one in another build and I think they help. The speakers will be one 6" facing toward the back and one 1.5" oblong facing foward.
So this is my tale. It is still in progress so if you have any ideas please shout them out.
